課程概述 |
The course consists of a collection of lectures offered by several scholars at the front edge of scientific research. The lectures not only cover fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, atomic and molecular structures, chemical dynamics, and their broad application in atomic and molecular science, but also provide students a guided tour of some current research subjects intensely pursued by the scientific community. Topics of the course include (1)atomic structure and atom-atom interactions, (2)atom-field interactions, (3)recent developments in atomic physics, (4)molecular structure, (5)molecular spectroscopy, (6)Born-Oppenheimer approximation and non-adiabatic interaction, (7)experimental aspects in molecular physics. Students taking this course are expected to have a basic knowledge in vector analysis, complex-variable calculus, differential equation, Fourier transformation, probability theory, linear algebra, electromagnetic theory, and thermal physics. Articles published in Physics Today, Science, Nature etc. that are written for a broad audience will be used as reading assignment to supplement the lectures. |
